Senior Appreciation Post, Dismissal Of Previous Staff
Posted on: 5/16/2023
The seniors of our battalion work really hard to maintain and improve the Tiger Battalion. Major Casey Butler, future Millwright, created a whole new website and shared battalion drive to assist new battalion leaders for generations to come! Major Faith Butler, future Doctor, brought in a tradition of making videos to honor the seniors and remember what a great year 2023 was for our JROTC Program. Captain Anthony Newkirk, introduced the Titan Tiger Challenge for cadets to compete physically, both individually and company wide. Sergeant Major Eric Coleman, National Guard's Infantry Man, introduced a new position into the battalion to assist the Battalion, his job was to assist the S3 but he did so much more than just that. Major Brianna Salazar, future _____, was an amazing Drill Commander, it was her squad that won 1st at State after all. Major Franny Ortiz, future Traveling Nurse, ran JUMS like no one else could. Though that website gave her trouble, Franny never let it get the better of her. Everyone got the promotions and awards they deserved because of her hard work on that outdated military website. Major Jasper Stone, future President, was behind the wheel of many staff projects, while he did remember to delegate the work to the proper staff officers, he did often assist and make sure everything was done accurately. Command Sergeant Major Matalyn Thompson, a happy mother, kept up with many responsibilities because of our battalion. She assigned color guards for the week, for parades and sports, and many other special events where colorguard was needed. She was always so far ahead with it, everyone knew far ahead of time who was where doing what. And finally, under the careful guidance of Lieutenant Colonel Hobbs, future West Point Cadet, we seen our all Female Squad Drill Team win 1st place at state, something the battalion's Female Drill Squad has never done before. He brought more military aesthetic to our program and brought us to victory so many times. While The Seniors are now graduating, we have some great potential in the new Battalion Chain of Command and Staff. As always, as Casey's last post as S6, Tigers, LEAD THE WAY!

Military Ball 2023
Posted on: 5/2/2023
The Military Ball is by far the event the Tiger Battalion looks forward to the most. A few hours formal event listening to this year's Master of Ceremonies; Raquel Alvarado. The formal event ends with the senior talk, where our Senior Army Instructor Lieutenant Colonel Hoyt; talks about the senior's future plans and dreams. Sergeant Major Eric Coleman put the candle out at the Fallen Soldier's table, and the formal part of the night ended. Captain Faith Butler and Lieutenant Colonel Jamarion Hobbs danced as military ball King and Queen, everyone joining in soon after. This year there was even a successful proposal between Command Sergeant Major Matalyn Thompson and her date Wyatt Ivey. We also had a lovely surprise visit from former Tiger Battalion Commander Jessica Ventura. As always, the military ball managed to out do the school's prom, just goes to show, the battalion can dance. With this, our seniors only have one week left leading. As always, Tigers--- Lead the Way!!
State Drill Meet Results
Posted on: 3/27/2023
The State Drill Meet is the biggest, most exhilarating, and by far the most important event of the JROTC Drill season for competing schools. The Tiger Battalion in particular takes this meet very seriously. This year we took it much more seriously than some others, this year the Tiger Battalion was determined and practicing far before Drill Season even began. The following Tiger Battalion Teams placed at State: the Female Unarmed Squad placed 1st, Exhibition Solo placed 4th, Male Mixed Platoon placed 5th. Great Job Tiger Battalion; this event on March 25th 2023, concludes this Drill Season. Good luck out doing us next year at the 2024 Drill Season.

Holiday Parade
Posted on: 12/8/22
On December 1st, JROTC lead the Christmas parade. The parade started at 5:00 pm on Thursday like it always had. In preparation for the parade the Tiger Battalion's LTC Hobbs and CSM Thompson decided that the battalion would all wear their uniform Thursday (the day of the parade). Staff and Chain of Command were in Class As, everyone else was in class Bs. This was done to simplify the schedule, moving uniform day to the same day as the parade so the cadets didn't have to change into their uniforms before the parade. Plenty of cadences were sung at the parade like: fancy, the prettiest girl, and they say that in the army, and a few more.
